Supermodels

8 x 30 min Series – 2001

‘Supermodels’ is a behind-the-scenes reality series documenting the trials & tribulations of girls competing for the chance to become Canada’s next Supermodel.

Series Overview

“Supermodels”documents the selection of the Canadian candidate of the Ford Supermodel of the World competition.

The beginning episodes focus on the cross-Canada search as the Ford judges travel to major cities to hold a series of open casting calls. Thousands of girls turn out, awaiting their shot at becoming Canada’s next Supermodel. The judges invite the top 20 finalists to a five-day “fashion camp”in Toronto. For many of the girls, it is their first trip to the big city. Fashion camp is devoted to model activities such as a professional photo shoot with Canada’s top fashion photographers, runway walking class, casting sessions, and makeovers. Each day the judges make cuts with the help of industry professionals, based on the day’s activities. Throughout the series we hear about the hopes and dreams from the winners and losers of this tough selection process.

Fashion camp’s final event is a live fashion show. Following the show the judges deliberate and than announce their decision. Canada’s next Supermodel is chosen. We hear from the winner on what her selection means to her. She is rewarded with a Ford modeling contract, then heads directly off to Paris for a photo shoot and tour.

Supermodels is a 8 X 30 minute documentary series that aired in primetime nationally on the Global Television Network in the Fall 2001 Season.
