'Popstars – Boy Meets Girl' documents the formation of a Canadian boy/girl pop group selected from thousands of singers who auditioned in four major cities. Music industry judges selected the top thirty auditioners to travel to Toronto, where industry experts determined the final five group members. They formed the group “Velvet Empire.” The series next followed the group as they took the first major steps of their young careers: giving interviews at their first press conference, recording their debut album and shooting their first video. The series leads up to the major landmark: the group’s first live show in front of their fans. The series allows viewers a behind-the-scenes look inside the music industry.

'Popstars – Boy Meets Girl' is a 14-part, primetime series. It aired nationally on the Global Television Network beginning in March 2002.
