Michael Geddes' entrepreneurial spirit sparked the launch of his own company, Lone Eagle Entertainment Ltd in 1995.  The name of the company was  inspired by the nickname given to Charles Lindbergh when he took the world’s first solo flight across the Atlantic. 


Lone Eagle has built a worldwide reputation for producing highly rated, high concept television and Michael is a key authority on reality-based television in Canada. In recognition of his leadership role in the development of this genre in the industry, Michael was the recipient of the 2005 Lions Gate/Maple Pictures Innovative Producer Award at the Banff World Television Festival.


Lone Eagle is currently producing season one of a hilarious new television series for Food Network Canada, entitled "You Gotta Eat Here!"  This 26 episode, half hour television series sends our food-obsessed host, comedian John Catucci, on a quest to find Canada's most over-the-top comfort food.  "You Gotta Eat Here!" debuted in January 2012.

 

Michael also created and executive produced:

 

The 14 x 1 hr Canadian version of the international hit "Wipeout".  "Wipeout Canada" premiered on TVtropolis in 2011.  Daring Canadian contestants competed on the world’s largest extreme obstacle course for a chance to win a cash prize of $50,000 per episode. This is the largest and most complex game show series undertaken in the history of Canadian Television.

 

2 seasons of “Carlawood”, a half hour documentary series for TVtropolis, starring TV personality Carla Collins on her quest to find stardom in Hollywood.


Tribes of the 21st Century, a documentary anthology series for Discovery Civilization Channel, featuring an engaging and entertaining slate of one hour episodes exploring  the modern day ‘tribes’ that exist among us.  

 

130 episodes of  Inside the Box, ‘the TV game show for TV addicts’, for TVtropolis, and in the series has had first run US syndication exposure across major U.S. TV markets and has been sold and produced as a format internationally.

 
76 episodes of  You Bet Your Ass, a hilarious pop culture game show with a cutting and edgy twist,  for The Comedy Network.

 

The Office Temps, a primetime network workplace comedy/reality format that takes a hilarious hidden camera look on a grand scale into the world of temporary employment,  for Global Television. 

 

Hooked Up takes viewers on a journey into the majestic Canadian Rockies with 20 singles in serach of love on a prime time network dating reality show for Craig Broadcasting.  Hooked Up was nominated for "Best Reality Series" at the 2004 Gemini Awards.

 

The Call, a 13-episode documentary series followed actors on their quest for key roles for Life Network and the format has sold throughout the international marketplace.

 

Supermodels, the first prime time network modeling series produced in Canada (in association with Ford Models), for Global Television. 

 

2 seasons of  Game On!, a hugely popular sports trivia game show for Global Television and on CTV Sportsnet.


2 seasons of  Get a Grip on Golf, a “tongue in cheek” series of 26 episodes exploring the sport of golf for Global Television and CTV Sportsnet.

 

Michael also executive produced "Consumer Guide to Stocks and Investments", a series of 26, half hour episodes on Life Network.


 
Lone Eagle's first major success was seen with the premiere launch of the pop music documentary Popstars debuted as the # 1 Canadian Primetime Series on Canadian television in February 2001. This 13-episode, primetime docu-soap chronicled the creation of a female pop music group. It was a groundbreaking success and achieved ratings not seen before in this genre. The result was Sugar Jones, an all-female band that topped charts with their # 1 single Days Like That. Universal Music Canada and Lone Eagle Music released the band’s debut album that summer. The album went platinum.. Lone Eagles’ trailblazing success with Popstars was the inspiration for a number of music-based formats that have since hit the television marketplace.


In 2002, Popstars - Boy Meets Girl aired nationally across Canada and won its timeslot every week for 13 consecutive weeks. Lone Eagle Music released Velvet Empire’s debut album, which charted across Canada with their first single Frontin’ On Me.


The third season of the Popstars franchise ended in April 2003 and garnered huge national ratings on Global Television. Popstars - The One is a 13-episode television series that documents the selection, creation and development of a solo act. This series was the first of its kind in Canada and broke ground for performance format series like Canadian Idol, the Great Canadian Music Dream, Rock Star and Star Academy.  It was nominated for as “Best Reality Series” at the 2003 Gemini Awards.

 

Michael has made many appearances in the media across Canada including ET Canada, Global’s Bynon, CBC’s Morning Show, Breakfast Television, On the Arts and the CBC Morning News, TV Ontario’s The Creative Mind and Vox, Much Music, CTV’s Open Mike with Mike Bullard and The Chat Room, Life Network’s TV Guide Television and U8TV, Roger’s Daytime and Sessions, Global’s Inside Entertainment, Careers TV, Access Channel, CHUM’s Because I said So and Star TV, CFMT’s Night Life, YTV’s Hit List and countless radio and newspaper interviews across the country.

 

Michael Geddes started in the industry at Atlantis Communications Inc., a major media company and producer of television drama in Canada.  He was the company's Head of Marketing in the production and distribution units and an integral part of the senior management team involved in the 1995 launch of the cable specialty channel, Life Network.


Michael is a director of The Merry Go Round Children’s foundation and also sits on the board for both The Toronto East General Hospital Foundation and the True Patriot Love Foundation.
